![]() ![]() ![]() Although we're glad that Microsoft offers free converters, we find the forced extra steps annoying in Office 2007. That means for now, should you save work in a new OOXML format in a hurry, someone with the older software won't be able to open it. Free file conversion tools won't be available until as long as 10 weeks from now, or 8 weeks after the applications are available in stores. We're not thrilled about this being the default option, even though you can save your work in the older DOC, XLS and PPT formats. Office for Mac saves work in the same, new Open XML formats used by Office 2007 for Windows. Being accustomed to Office for Windows, we'd rather find all these options at the top of the screen. For simple tweaks such as changing fonts, you'll need to consult floating formatting boxes. We found the shape-shifting neither terribly distracting nor useful. Office for Mac lacks the Ribbon, but some menu items appear only in step with the task at hand. Office 2007 for Windows clusters functions within a contextual "Ribbon" toolbar that displays different options. This is handy if you rely on Entourage but don't want to run it all the time. The new My Day widget for Entourage floats on the Mac desktop displaying calendar items and to-do lists. Now you can save to PDF, and Automator actions are supported. ![]() There are more welcome and substantial changes as well. These are premade templates with 3D and translucent designs. For instance, Office for Mac features the same templates and Smart Art graphics as the Windows counterparts. By and large, most of the changes focus on attempting to help users craft more attractive documents. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() The putting greens have had a thorough overhaul, re-turfed and otherwise improved. This work is presumed to have been initiated by the 'dynamic' R&A captain Sir High Lyon Playfair and was ready in time for the Spring Meeting of May 1857, as reported in the Fifeshire Journal, which lauded the new playing arrangements including the different coloured flags to differentiate the out and in holes. ![]() In 1856-57, Allan Robertson was paid £20 in respect of 'double greens' by the R&A, from which we can infer a significant amount of work was done, probably to enlarge the greens enough so that two holes could be installed on all of them and used simultaneously. ![]() You need a large double green to use two holes simultaneously. There may have been other double holes cut, and they may simply have been used alternately, rather than out and in, to spread the wear on the green which also served as the tee'ing area at this time. (Many histories refer to this as the 5th hole, possibly because of the 1836 map, and some even date it to this earlier period.) Twenty years later, in 1855, Daw Anderson, a St Andrews ball-maker, in charge of the Old Course 1850-1855, created a double green on the 7th hole, as evidenced by the R&A Green Committee directive of 2nd May 1855. One round of the Links, or 18 holes is reckoned a match, unless otherwise stipulated. This was repeated in the 18 rules, but not in the 1888 rules. In the Rules of 1842, the Royal & Ancient laid down an 18 hole round, though the course was not yet 18 holes. In 1832, the Chief of Clanronald suggested double greens at St Andrews and the Old Course plan of 1836 drawn by William Chalmers, which hangs in the R&A clubhouse, shows two holes on the 5th hole, the Hole O'Cross green, shared with the 13th and both named Hole O'Cross. Assembling the evidence from diverse sources produces the following tale. There is still confusion on the development of the 18 holes at St Andrews. When they added another hole it became a round of 21 holes. Thus was born the 18-hole round, though it would be hundred years before there were eighteen holes and other courses followed suit.Įven as late as 1851, when Prestwick was built with 12 holes, it did not look out of place.Īlthough some clubs were playing 18 holes as medal round at this time, it was purely be accident, such as at Lanark from 1851-1853 where they had six holes that were played three times. In 1764, the golfers at St Andrews decided to combine the first four short holes into two, to produce a round of 18 holes, though it was still 10 holes of which 8 were played twice. The holes were laid out in a line and 10 holes were played twice, once 'out' and once back 'in', making a 'round' of 22 holes. Leith Linksħ holes for many years, adding an 8th in 1832 and a 9th in 1870ħ holes by 1810 14 holes by 1825 11 holes by 1849 and 25 holes by 1866, reduced sometime shortly after 1874.ġ2 holes by 1764, and probably much earlier. The order of play on Aberdeen Links is known to have been laid out in August 1780, but the layouts below were probably established much earlier. The early golf courses all had different numbers of holes and were not always played in a defined order, as evidenced at Earlsferry. Many people have asked why golf courses have eighteen holes and this is now the universal format played today. ![]() The remake, which had a chance to do that, doesn't. The ending asks you to feel sad, but the game doesn't immersive you enough in it's world to feel sad at all. You don't remotely spend enough time with the cast of characters to form any sort of believable bond. You meet her a couple of times, she tells you about wanting to be reborn a bird, and then you're gone. You just meet a cast of quirky individuals and then done. There is virtually no character development, from start to finish. ![]() Link is a mute, you interact with the inhabits for no more than a few seconds, and the supposed closed bond you form with Marin seems questionable. That part is stellar, but I do question if alot of this supposed deep story stem from outside influences, because I found none of it in the game. I keep hearing fans talk about how you form a connection it's with characters only to be heartbroken in the end. I might be the only one who thinks Link's Awakening sad story is exaggerated. The VR missions are closer to what I enjoy. I would have preferred more emphasis on stealth and combat and less on exploring and looking for items. As with most things MGS, I found the dialogue parts far too wordy, and I didn't love the stage design as much. As for Metal Gear Solid, I really like how they shrunk the game down. I've been meaning to dive into all the old Zeldas I missed and a few I haven't played in a long time but did enjoy. Hearing that Zelda Oracle of Seasons is combat heavy and straightforward sounds like my style. I'll have to read more about the follow ups. I last played it about six months ago and had a great time still. I was a big fan of the original Wario Land on the original Game Boy. The shift toward puzzle platforming sounds less appealing to me. I have been reluctant to try the Wario Land sequels. Most of my time with fighting games has been against the CPU and, despite what most people say, I've always found that to be quite fun. There's not much reason to play that version now other than to see how they dealt with the hardware limits, but the single-player only wouldn't have bothered me. ![]() Making Street Fighter Alpha work well on the system may be a good example of that. I do remember keeping up with news and reviews then and seeing clever ways developers were using the GBC which is something I always appreciated. A list like this is a good way to see what's worth checking out if I feel the need.
![]() These sherlock style dab rigs will usually have a down stem going into the water to help filter the vapor as you smoke. These rigs resemble the shape of a sherlock bubbler but they have been made with a dome and nail for dabbing wax & shatter. When using a nectar collector with a built-in percolator all you need is a bottle of water to enjoy smooth water filtered dabs on the go.Ī step up from dab straws is sherlock style dab rigs. They fit easily into purses, backpacks, and even jeans pockets. Both dab straws and nectar collectors tend to be smaller and a great choice for traveling, concerts, festivals, camping, etc. The difference between dab straws and nectar collectors is that dab straws are typically dry, and nectar collectors can have water percolators built into them. With a dab straw or nectar collector, you will use a butane torch to heat the end of the straw, dip the end in the concentrate of your choice, and then inhale through the straw. These are an even more simplified method of “hot knifing”, but with a modern updated twist. In dab culture, today users that attend events, travel, or need to dab on the go, tend to gravitate toward dab straws and nectar collectors. It may seem crude, but this process is simple and very effective at delivering potent vapor to the user. Obviously this was a dry dabbing method where there was no water filtration involved in the process, thus making it harsher than necessary. This was one of the earliest forms of dabbing. You would use the stove to heat up the end of the knife, drop a small chunk of concentrate on the end of the knife, and then suck up the vapor with the straw. The “hot knife” method involved a butter knife, a stove, a straw, and some concentrates. The use of dab rigs grew out of old-timers using the “hot knife” method. ![]() You can find similar options on cheaper dab rigs as you can on the rigs that sell for hundreds more. Why would anyone want to spend all of their money on an overpriced oil rig when you can get an oil rig under $10, and save that extra money for more concentrates. With the influx of new concentrate users into the smoking market the need for reliable, quality, dab rigs under $100 is at an all-time high. For people that have high tolerances, or are in need of heavy medication, dabbing allows them to not have to spend tons of time smoking to almost get the same desired effects as only one dab can give. When you take a dab you are getting a concentrated amount of vapor in each hit. Dabbing has become the dominant method for recreational and medical users in today's legal market. ![]() ![]() ![]() One model is a quick-and-simple massing model and the other is for detailed studies.
